Mark 4:35-41  That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”3He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Principal to carry in our daily life:

Let’s not just read the scriptures, let’s consider what we are reading while we are reading so the Holy Spirit can reveal what He wants us to hear and see in our own life. As we are reading, the Holy spirit will use our imagination so we can have a visible reality to feel and see what we are reading.

What did Jesus say to the disciples during and after the storm?

Whenever we are thrown off guard by a storm in our life, we get afraid. The disciples had great confidence in what the Lord could do when He was with them, but then He was sleeping, the evidence of the storm shook their confidence of their belief. The other boats were hit by the storm as well. But the disciples had a walking, living relationship with the Lord, but they had not matured in their spiritual life to trust even when He wasn’t there. As Christians, we sometimes have doubts during the storm, but He said “I will never leave or forsake you”. Nothing is going to sink our boat if Jesus is in it? If we get weighed down with no confidence in ourselves during unexpected circumstances, we need to still have confidence in Him. They said, “Don’t you care? Aren’t you aware?” This shows immaturity, but they won’t stay there. We will grow in the gifting to understand the Lord. The men and women of God are serving God, but they still had persecutions. Negative imagination is not good when we start panicking when we don’t see what we need, it will work at eroding your faith and joy. Stay strong in God, walk hand in hand with Him. Our failings and weaknesses cause us to struggle, but we are maturing. Our natural traits need to give way to the truth of who God is. God will also answer all our questions, but sometimes it is “wait” or “no”. Perfect Patience will be worked out in our life. Ultimately our lives are made to bring Him Glory.
