Discussion from Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven by David Jeremiah

1 Thessalonians 1:13– I don’t want you to be ignorant about those who have fallen asleep lest you sorrow

Death has a whole new definition for believers. Caught up means to catch away, There are two questions? Where is my loved one? How is it with them, what are they doing?

1 Thessalonians 4:12-18 1that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen [a]asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who [b]sleep in Jesus.15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are [c]asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The only part that changes is our physical body. God wi; give us a brand new body. The term death is discouraging for unbelievers. It is a adjustment of understanding of reality. Our Soul and Spirit will never change. When people ask questions about this, we cannot lie if we don’t know if they don’t know Jesus. The terms “falling asleep” quiets our soul from grief. We can actually know that person is asleep. Jesus is alive and risen from the dead. Only the Word of God can shed authoritative light.

Luke 16:19-31 Rich man and bigger19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and [a]fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with [b]the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”

Decisions we make today may affect our eternity. We can’t go back and change things once we are dead. The influence we have on people around us is our responsibility to draw others into knowing Christ by being the example. Being salt and light is required of us and be part of the Lord’s army.

Matthew 9:18-26 18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.23 When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.

Acts 7: 54-6054 When they heard these things they were [h]cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Where He is is peace and comfort and security. He has been there. He knows everything. We cherish the sound of His voice.

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said to him, Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise”

They are no longer in Abrahams bosom, but in the third heaven, in Paradise. The thief on the cross and his family knew what surrender to Jesus Christ was, even when we don’t have time to live a good life.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are live and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord

His overwhelming beauty, declares His glory. We are so blessed. We are sustained by light and the breath of God.

2 Cornthians 5:8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

God is breaking through the fear barrier. We want confidence in all things. We are in process.

Philippians 1:23 For I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

But it is more needful to abide in the flesh for now.

1 Thessalonians 5: 9-10 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether wee wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

The enemy will try to divert our attention, disquiet our soul, to intimidate us, and steal the joy of our salvation.
